Mineral Pigment Painting is a type of painting that uses various materials such as Chinese paper, silk, cotton, board, wood, and even walls as the base. It employs colorful rock powders and metallic pigments like gold and silver, which are fixed onto the painting surface using edible gelatin or animal glue as the binder. The mineral-based pigments used in Mineral Pigment Painting come in a wide variety and can be classified into inorganic and organic pigments. Another essential material used in this technique is metal foil, which is made from thin sheets of gold, silver, copper, or aluminum. To meet the demand for more diverse colors, artists sometimes also use sulfur powder to create colored foils.
