Fahai Temple Guanyin | Clay Relief Mural Workshop
Dates: 28 Mar / 4 Apr / 25 Apr 2026 (Saturday)
Time: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Venue: Yan Art Centre
This workshop is based on the Guanyin figure from the Ming dynasty mural “Assembly in the Western Paradise” at Fahai Temple. Participants will work on a clay panel, experiencing traditional mural-making techniques.
Within this 7-hour session, you will learn the properties of mineral pigments and the method of layered glazing. The workshop also introduces the traditional lifen tuijin (raised gesso and gold application) technique—using dimensional lines and gold accents to express the drapery and refined details of the figure.
Through a steady and unhurried process, participants will complete a Guanyin clay panel artwork with a sense of depth and relief, echoing the tactile quality of traditional murals.
Suitable for beginners and art enthusiasts, this workshop offers a focused and meditative experience, revealing the quiet strength and stillness of mural painting.
